Welcome to Christina Pepper Piano! This channel is dedicated to making performance videos of Classical music, Ragtime, the occasional video game cover, and other caprices. In 2018 I expanded the channel to also include piano accompaniment videos, primarily for vocal repertoire. Collaborative playing has become a real love of mine, and I make these for people to use for their practice, auditions, performances etc. I recently launched a 2nd channel dedicated entirely to this very thing: Christina Pepper Classical (find it under Featured Channels!).

Rialto Ripples Rag by George Gershwin and Will Donaldson, composed in 1917
Another showcase on the new baby grand piano! This is a very early Gershwin novelty piece composed when he was just 19 (and his only piano rag). The two composed it while both working at the Jerome Remick Publishing House and "Rialto" likely refers to Broadway and the nearby Rialto Theatre, which opened in 1916. Also, bonus dog at the end of the video (she was lurking just off camera the whole time which is why I kept turning around 😅).

Got a question for you. Do you play all songs as written or do you do any improvising?
I'm not much of an improviser, so mostly played as written. I like to add the occasional flourish or embellishment in the repeats when it's appropriate, though 🙂

Overall well done Christina. I’m a composer and a baritone. And I’ve performed these amazing songs many times. My only criticisms is that for me, “Let beauty awake” and “The Roadside Fire” are way too slow in overall tempo. But the rest of it works for me, along with that great sounding piano you’ve got there. Brava!
